As if the season wasn’t fun enough, we’re amazed by all of the pretty summer makeup trends that have cropped up from the Spring/Summer 2017 runways. Have fun trying out the trends that speak to your tastes. With this many hot trends around, there really is something for everyone!
1. Bold Pops of Color
This is one of several absolutely hot 80’s trends that keeps on showing up everywhere. We must confess we’re thrilled for the chance to play with really bright hues in a rainbow of colors. It’s like the grown-up version of playing with dolls – but the doll is you! This is the time (if ever) to feel free to add bold color to the lips, cheeks or lids.
To emphasize an 80’s aesthetic, stick to primary and secondary colors only. And while you can definitely apply them with ease, this trend runs the gamut from the subtle to the all out. What does that look like? Bold color on the lids and all the way up past the brow bones or blush at the cheekbones and all the way out to the temples. There’s also a technique called draping which is borrowed from the decade of excess. Just apply blush to the tops of your cheeks.

2. Metallic Eye Makeup
This is another hot 80’s trend reminiscent of the smokey eye early rave scene of the decade. Think club kid extraordinaire and reinterpret the look to the level that you dare. This trend alone can get you through an entire season of festivals and summer events.
Don’t forget that you don’t have to get completely wild. You can also channel a subtle supermodel beauty look in the form of highlighting at the inner corners of your eyes with metallic makeup.

Are you sensing a theme? Here’s yet another bold look to add to your repertoire. Wear it day or night and choose from glitter and sparkle of a host of different sizes.

A strong lip wears wonderfully this season – especially when you wear a red. Go for classic reds, deep reds, fuchsias, orange-reds… If you’re lazy about your beauty rituals, use this look to add instant glamour and interest to your entire face.

This skin is dewy, fresh and simply gorgeous. If you’ve been struggling with contouring, this is your faster and easier to handle alternative. It’s great because your beauty will be on display – even if you’re not wearing much makeup at all.

Yay, glossy lids are back! This shouldn’t come as any surprise with the recent love for all things wet-look in makeup and hair. Have fun with it and use lighter, softer hues on your lids by day and save the darker, more dramatic glossed lids for night.
We’re seeing a lot more highlighting this season because there’s been kind of a backlash against contouring. Contouring took off all at once but then sort of ran amok. That’s why a lot of the top makeup artists have abandoned it and for most of the ones who haven’t, they’ve decided to lighten things up.
The new soft contour really tones things down and feels much more natural in a comfortable color palette of such products as bronzers based in yellow and soft and neutral tones.
Yes, blue eyeshadow is very retro revival but it doesn’t necessarily need to be bold. Go for a bold primary color blue if that’s your style or choose from seemingly endless blue tones for your eye makeup like cornflower or navy blue.

We love any excuse to smudge our eye makeup so this one is a sure winner. Think of it as a more discreet version of a smokey eye. Lightly line your upper and lower lash lines then smudge with a cotton swab and you’re done. This is a sexy look for date night, parties, special events or whenever you just feel like celebrating your smoldering inner goddess!
Pick a shape, draw it on with an eyeliner and a stencil for more accurate results and then fill it in with an eyeshadow of a matching hue. Voila! You now have a runway ready look prepped in seconds.
11. No-Makeup Makeup
The no-makeup makeup look is hot again and the clean, amazing skin is definitely appealing. We say use the no-makeup makeup look for your base and then fill in your brows softly with a brow powder, add some smudged eyeliner and finish it off with a rich mascara.
Face art was all over the catwalks and it showed up in the most diverse ways imaginable. This is a music festival ready trend so have fun with it, explore concepts that speak to your style and make it happen.
If you’re brave enough, skipping mascara is a big trend for the moment. If you have darker lashes, you probably don’t need to be brave at all but it’s definitely a bold statement for blond-lashed beauties!
Frosted eyeshadow is having a moment. It’s feminine, alluring and all it takes is the right product and a few swipes with a shadow brush. Wear your lip color and blush in soft hues to avoid harshness.
Finally, make it a habit to wear dark eyeliner beneath your lower lashes. You can even use a colored eyeliner in a darker colored hue. This look is edgy, sexy and takes seconds to create.
