There are so many colors, shades, and textures of eyeshadow available today that sometimes it can get a little overwhelming and instead of running towards the makeup counters we are running for the doors! But, regardless of whether you buy your beauty products from an actual makeup counter, buy them online, or pop into Target, give yourself a little time to play, check out testers and choose colors that are right for you. You can also change your eyeshadow shades to suit your moods. When you are feeling blah, apply an eyeshadow color to your eyes that will lift your spirit every time you gaze into a mirror. I promise you, it will make you smile and before you know it, your “blah’s” will turn into “LA DI DA’s!”
We have a few helpful tips for picking your eyeshadow which can definitely keep you from stressing out before you have even given yourself a chance to apply it onto your eyes 🙂 First and foremost, you will need to pick colors that actually compliment your eye color. This way you will never second guess your eyeshadow color choice and feel completely confident as you go out in public wearing it.
If you have blue eyes then we suggest checking out light, neutral colors. You will want to stay away from any eyeshadow colors that are overly dark or harsh. To bring out the gorgeous blue in your eyes, try applying eyeshadow colors with coral, champagne and amber tones. They will catch the glint in your iris without being distracting. For more color try a cranberry shade with shimmer if your skin tone can handle red based colors. We also love wine and burgundy tones with a satin finish. This color looks great in the crease of your eyes. Sable shimmer variations are also great for blue eyes. You can wear it on your lids with the cranberry in the crease. And do not be afraid of applying blue shadow to blue eyes. Darker shades of blue can really make a nice contrast to your blue eyes!
Green eyes are already naturally bright so there is no need for you to “call for attention.” Lucky you! Eyeshadow colors for green eyes call for taupes, the warmer undertones are more flattering than ashy brown and if you can use one that has a little sparkle/shimmer, it will bring out golden flecks inF your irises. Although purple shadows compliment every eye color, it is extremely fantabulous on “green eyes.” The reason behind this is that red is the complimentary color to green, so any eyeshadow with red undertones will really make green eyes stand out and pop! So, you beauties with green eyes, go to town on all shades and textures of purple! (Hint: For really eye catching looks, try applying your purple eyeshadow as close to your lash line as possible.)
For Dark brown eyes, that are borderline black, we suggest medium to dark shades. To figure out your best colors use a handheld mirror in the daylight and closely look at your irises. The lighter specks of color in your eyes will help you choose the right shades for highlighters. You can never go wrong with dark browns or mauves. These colors can be highlighted with gold, bronze, charcoal gray, plums or deep greens. (Hint: Use a rich pigmented color to dust your lids to amp up your dark brown eyes.)
