The Oscars are upon us once again and with that comes all of the fan fair of new makeup beauty looks, the latest hair styles, and of course the gowns. In preparation for this huge night, we’ve decided to spend some time reminiscing on a few of our favorite red carpet makeup beauty looks that should have won these actresses an Award! And while we’re at it we are also including beauty tips for recreating these red carpet Oscar looks on yourself. Who do you think will dazzle this year at the Oscars? Which red carpet makeup beauty looks below was your favorite?
This look from last year’s red carpet was one of our favorites. Lupita’s metallic smokey eyes resembled the radiance of the pearls on her dress and her skin completed the look with a dewy glow and a subtle, rosy cheek. To get Lupita’s eye look here, you will need to start by applying a base color across your lid. Next, take a light, silvery color that has shimmery, metallic finish and apply it across the lid, blending into the crease. Highlight with a pearly white shade in the inner corner. Combine the two shades and apply on the bottom lashline. Finish by tight lining the upper and bottom lash lines with a black liner. Add some more eyeliner to the top lash line, adding a cat eye if you want to go a bit more dramatic.
Last year, Keira decided to leave her signature, sultry smokey eye look at home and go with an all-around nude makeup look, pairing a nude colored floral gown with a natural eye look. To get Keira’s look, start by blending a nice base shade into your crease and across the lid. Then, blend a nude color that is about a shade darker than your base color into the crease, so there are no harsh lines. Take the nude shade and apply across the bottom lash line. Then, take a bronze shade and apply lightly across the bottom lash line, overlapping the nude shade, to give the look a bit more depth. Finish with a few coats of mascara for the top and bottom lashes.
Jessica decided to go with a simple, yet absolutely stunning eyeliner look on the red carpet last year. She chose a beautiful blue gown and paired it with a dark brown eyeliner added just along the top and bottom lids for the perfect compliment to accent her gorgeous green eyes. Her top liner was slightly thicker towards the outer eye and slightly elongated for a more classic cat-eye look. To keep the focus on her eyes, the rest of her makeup was just a hint of blush along the cheekbones and a barely there lip color. The key to this look is to find a liner that brings out your eyes the best. If you have blue eyes, brown or black liner looks stunning. For green eyes, brown or purple liner will look fantastic. For brown eyes, a black or blue liner looks beautiful. The key to getting Jessica’s look is to apply a moderately thick line of eyeliner as close to your top lash line as possible and increasing the thickness as the eyeliner nears the end of the eye. Flick outwards to form your petite cat-eye. for the liner underneath, starting at the outer eye, apply your liner about 3/4 of the way along bottom lash line and taper as you get towards the inner eye. Finish by smudging your liner gently for a sexier look.
Jennifer Lopez is usually all about the dark and bronzey smokey eye at events. However, at last year’s Oscars, the actress decided to go for a lighter look, going for peachy eyes and a bright pop of color with a pink lip. The two colors looked perfect paired with Jennifer’s nude dress. To get Jlo’s look, you will need to find a brown shadow with peach undertones that you like. Start by blending this color into your crease and upwards. Layer the color to your desired intensity by adding more shadow to your brush. Using a highlighter with gold undertones, highlight in the center of the lid, inner corner and under the brow bone. Apply a black liner as close to the lash line as possible. Add false lashes and apply mascara to the top and bottom lashes.
Although the trend for last years Oscar’s was definitely light and neutral, Sienna went against the grain with a deep, chocolate smokey eye and looked fabulous. The actress paired the eye look with a subtle pink lip color that went with her eyes perfectly. It’s important to note that when doing a smokey eye, it looks best if you pair it with a lipstick that is not too intense. If you’re doing a more natural look, go for a darker lip shade, like a purple or red color. To get Sienna’s look, you will need a few different brown shades, a few with bronzey undertones. Begin by blending your lightest shade across the lid and into the crease. Layer the shades, going from darkest to lightest, by blending into the crease. Dab a gorgeous bronze color across the lid to make the eyes pop. Swipe a mixture of the bronze shade and a brown color across the bottom lash line too. Finish the look with a sexy black cat eyeliner using either a liquid or gel liner and lots of mascara, to the top and bottom lashes. Mission accomplished!
