Step Up Your Smokey Eye Game and Go For The Blue

Step Up Your Smokey Eye Game and Go For The Blue

Smokey eyes will always be one of the best beauty trends for eye makeup.  So, why not switch it up with some color and start avoiding those safe neutral colors?  Over the years the shades of blue eye shadow have really expanded including shimmers and sparkles and deep blue pigments that last all day without looking flat.  Let us create a blue smokey eyes that will mesmerize others and make your eyes look ultra sexy while complimenting your lip color at the same time!  I love blue eye shadow but not everyone does.  With that said, I am going to hopefully make all of you non – blue eye shadow users, “lovers’ of these very powerful shades!

What I love about this blue smokey eyes is not just about how great it looks, but how versatile it is.  You can feel confident all day long while dressed casually for work or running errands.  For night time this smokey eye will rock any romantic dinner or upscale event you have to attend.  I promise you, it will take you to a whole new “beauty” level and you will wonder why it took you this long to “drink the blue smokey eye kool-aid!”  Okay, I am done trying to convince you…Now on to the creation…

To create this sexy blue smokey eyes you will need the following:

• Makeup base, foundation, concealer, Makeup brushes, Blush, Eyebrow kit, Eyeshadows in black, dusty rose, shades of blue, matte brown and light gold, Blue cream eyeshadow, Brown eye pencil, Mascara, nude or pale pink lip gloss.

Step 1

Since our entire focus here is going to be about your eyes, let us not also forget how very important it is to make sure that the rest of your face also looks good in order to pull off your blue smokey eye. Your flawless complexion will definitely add to your sexy eyes.  So, make sure you start with a clean face.  After washing, toning and applying your hydrating moisturizer, I suggest applying a tinted sunscreen, BB cream or foundation of your choice to obtain a flawless look.  Use your fingers, foundation brush or makeup sponge to evenly apply your foundation base.  Any areas that need extra coverage use a concealer brush to gently layer area with concealer.  Use a loose powder applying it all over your face to perfect your complexion.  Now take your blush and lightly apply it in all of your contouring areas of your face.

Step 2

Fill in and shape your eyebrows. If you have tattooed eyebrows then you can skip this step. Otherwise, let us forge ahead! Get our your favorite eyebrow pencil or shadow and start filling in your brows with the appropriate shade to match your brow color.

Step 3

Get your dark dusty rose eye shadow with a slight satin finish and apply it to the edges of the brown line you just created on your upper lid. Now apply your electric blue (or blue eye shadow of your choice), to your lower eye lid under the lashes. Add a touch of black eyeshadow to your eye makeup to the part of your lid that moves to help make it look more dramatic.

Step 4

Get your dark dusty rose eye shadow with a slight satin finish and apply it to the edges of the brown line you just created on your upper lid. Now apply your electric blue (or blue eye shadow of your choice), to your lower eye lid under the lashes. Add a touch of black eyeshadow to your eye makeup to the part of your lid that moves to help make it look more dramatic.

Step 5

Add a bit of cream based blue eye shadow to your eye lid so that it blends into the outer corner of your eye. Top it with the same electric blue shadow used on your lower lid.

Step 6

Now use a metallic blue eye shadow and apply it all over your eye lid and slightly into your crease. Begin to blend all of the colors of your smokey eye with a medium brown matte eye shadow, (Bobbi Brown has a fabulous Fawn color eye shadow that is perfect for this blending).

Step 7

Once your eye shadows are blended, add a light colored gold eye shadow under your brow bone and a little near your tear duct to brighten up your sexy smokey eye.

Step 8

Final step is to apply a black lengthening mascara to upper and lower eye lashes.  You can do a few coats for a more sultry smokey eye.  Add a nude or pale lip gloss to finish your look.
